Annette Boaz was born December 30, 1937 to Tom and Nelle Doran Aylor in San Saba Texas.  She graduated from San Saba High School in 1956.  She married Don Boaz of Ft Worth on December 2, 1960.  They had 4 children Rusty, Nanette, Randy and Donna.  She became the mother of Don’s sons Robbie and Mike, who were from his previous marriage.  Annette and Don were married 20 years and divorced in 1980 and Don passed away in December of 1987.

Annette worked for the San Saba County Extension Services from 1958-1960.  She worked for PETCO, Blodgett Motor Company, and JEMCO prior to employment with the Breckenridge Independent School District.  She became an employee of BISD in August 1972 as a Physical Education aide at East Elementary.

During her 32 years with BISD she was a PE aide, kindergarten aide, junior high secretary, administration office payroll clerk, and superintendent secretary/board clerk until her retirement in August 2004.  Due to her long tenure, she had the pleasure of working for 5 different superintendents.  She decided it was time to retire when her youngest daughter, Donna, became the principal at East, the school where Annette started her long career at BISD.

She quickly advanced in her BISD career due to her work ethic, professionalism, and dedication.  She was the go-to person at the school that everyone relied upon.

Annette was a very caring, humble person, who always put others first.   Her greatest loves were her children and grandchildren. She also had many close friends that she cherished, many who called her every day to check on her.  She was a huge NBA fan, especially her beloved San Antonio Spurs (a favorite of her mother also), an NFL fan, and loved Lance Kitchens broadcasts of Buckaroo games.

Annette was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Breckenridge, having taught Sunday school in her early years.  She was a former member of Mother’s Petite, Lady Elks, Woman’s Forum and several school organizations.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother Tom and Nelle Aylor, Don Boaz, Mike Boaz, numerous Boaz and Doran family members, all of whom she adored.  She is survived by the following family members – Rusty and wife Kathleen of Coppell Texas, Nanette Cowain and husband Bob of Bedford Texas, Randy and wife Deedra of Breckenridge, Donna Wade and husband James of Breckenridge, Robbie Boaz and wife Sandy of Longview Texas, her sister Margy Roy and husband Buddy, brother Wilbur Aylor, best family friend Gwen Boaz and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Grandchildren are Jake Boaz, Rachel Boaz, Nicolette Boaz, Aylor Rix, Carter Rix, Clay Boaz, and Tanner Wade.  Step grandchildren are Jason Hash and wife Misty, Colt Morrison and wife Teddy, Tony Wade, Devin Wade and wife Kaitlin, Patrick Boaz, and Michael Boaz.

She also has 8 step great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breckenridge Meals on Wheels, EMS in San Saba Texas, First United Methodist Church, or donor’s choice of charity.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 6, 2017 at 1:30 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church. Interment followed in Breckenridge Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Mike Hinyard, Curt McClymond, Bill Ash, Jacky Walker, Mark Dempsey, and Mark Campbell.
