Russell Monroe 'Sonny' Pendleton

Russell Monroe 'Sonny' Pendleton, age 87, of Breckenridge, passed from this life Friday, Sept. 2. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Breckenridge. Burial will follow in the Moon Cemetery. A visitation time for family and friends was set for 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 5,  at Melton-Kitchens Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.

Russell 'Sonny' Pendleton was born February 5, 1929 in Stephens County, to Hubert Monroe and Susie Pearl Pendleton.  He was raised in Breckenridge and graduated from Breckenridge High School.  He served two years in the US Army, stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, before returning to Breckenridge. Sonny was employed by Warren Petroleum and after his retirement, ran his own welding service.

Survivors include his two daughters; Pam Raglin and husband, Doyle of Breckenridge and Donna Duncan and husband, Randy of Lovington, New Mexico; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Sonny is also survived by one sister Joyce Burris of Breckenridge; two nephews, Roy Miller and Sam Cockerell.

Sonny was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Pendleton and two sisters, Allan Louise Cockerell and Faye Nell Miller and one nephew, Hubert Russell Cockerell.
