Margaret Ann Blackburn, age 94, went home peacefully to be with her Lord Monday, Oct. 3.
Graveside services for Margaret were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home.
Margaret was born Aug. 8, 1922 in Victoria, Texas, to Paul Emerson and Vilas Simmons Leonard. She married the love of her life George S. Blackburn in June of 1943. She was a graduate of Beaumont High School and of Hotel Dieu School of Nursing. She loved being a nurse and loved her patients. She worked as a surgical nurse and the Director of Nurses at both Stephens Memorial Hospital and the Throckmorton County Memorial Hospital.
Margaret is survived by a daughter, Sandy Rogers and husband, Dick of Breckenridge, a son Buddy Blackburn and wife, Nita of Slaton, Texas, four grandchildren; Margaret Neill, Susie Lowry, Sandy Johnson and Elizabeth Rogers and six great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two step-sisters; Mary Linton of Scottsdale, Arizona and Jodie McMahon of San Antonio.
She is preceded in death by her parents and step-mother, Charlsie Leonard, a sister, Frances Shurley and a brother, Bud Leonard and a precious grandson, Brent Rogers.
