Joan Kelley Larson, age 87, passed away Friday, Feb. 17. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Andy Channer officiating. Interment followed in the Breckenridge Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation was held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, at Morehart Mortuary.
Joan Kelley Larson was born on Jan. 31, 1930, in Cross Plains, Texas, to her parents, Elizabeth and T.C. Kelley. She had one brother, Thad Kelley. During her childhood, her family moved to Breckenridge, and her father established Kelley Supply Company. Joan graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1948, completed a bachelor’s degree at North Texas State College, and worked in Austin, Texas and New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1956, she married Randon Larson of New Orleans, and they started a family. In 1963, the family relocated to Texas, living for several years in Knox City, Texas, and eventually returned to Breckenridge in 1973.
Joan enjoyed traveling to see family and was active in her church, the Presbyterian Church of Breckenridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother.
Mrs. Larson is survived by her two daughters, Chris St. Clair and husband Tom St. Clair of Kensington, Maryland and Marilynn Yeghiazarian and husband Vartan Yeghiazarian of North Hollywood, California; one sister-in-law, Martha Kelley of Breckenridge; five grandchildren, Kate Misar of Nashville, Tennessee, Jennifer St. Clair of Kensington, Maryland, and Alex Yeghiazarian, Derek Yeghiazarian, and Nicole Yeghiazarian of North Hollywood, California; one niece, Tracey Fambro and husband Neil; and one nephew, Tim Kelley and wife Kim.
The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Red Cross in lieu of flowers.
